Paintings on Steel
Through a process of grinding and oxidizing, the rigidity and hardness of steel are broken down to create a more
organic and sculpted two dimensional form. Various grinding techniques
allow the steel to react differently to oxidation as well as to the application of oil paints. The most subtle technique can produce a
dynamic and textural composition. Once the "steel canvas" is created, I choose a palette to compliment the inherent nature of the material.
Music and rhythmic relationships once again return as the continued inspiration for my work.
